Post Re: Time to downsize Artie’s cage?

I haven’t moved her yet because I have been considering adding the cardboard. It sounds silly but I’m worried adding the cardboard to the bars would stress her out more than a different cage because I know she’s always liked climbing up to her shelves and I’m worried how taking that away will affect her. I’ll try the cardboard in the morning though and test her reaction to it. If she seems distressed by it, I think I am going to move her into the Billy because it just seems so much safer and I can make a much simpler set up for her, so it’s easier for her to get everything she needs.

At the moment her wheel is on a very low shelf (and secured by a bottle spring) because she’d probably tip the wheel over if it’s in the bedding (she’s managed to move her wheel before on a larger shelf). She can still get up to the shelf as there’s two bridges that she can climb up. Her food, water, sand bath, nests and toys are all on the floor of the cage so that’s not an issue. I’ll attach photos so you can see what I mean. I have shelves pretty much around the whole cage to try and stop her falling from high up but she’s still convinced she can climb as well as she could 6 months ago.

I’ve attached a photo of her current set up, unfortunately it won’t let me post more than one photo at once. Thank you for all your help
