You can hamster proof a guinea pig cage by meshing it.
You can buy galvanised mesh in 1cmx1cm/0.5inx0.5in squares, cut it into size with a wire cutter and attach with cable ties.

Only long cage i can think of is the Ikea detolf conversion but you'd need to make a meshed lid and its not that wide.

You could also look into getting an aquarium but again you'd have to make a meshed lid.
