Half a Detolf internally would be pretty small for any species. While it may not be the smallest ever(~468 square inches per side), it really isn't something I could ever recommend for a variety of reasons.

There are better alternative options for having multiple hamster cages without having them live in the same enclosure just with a divider. I believe Serendipity has a sort of rack system using shelving and that would be much better - plus it would take up significantly less room than just dividing a Detolf, especially with dwarf species since you can still have 80 cm x 50 cm cages and such for them instead!

ETA I do think the question of dividing a Detolf was still a very good question. I can definitely understand where others come from in terms of trying to figure out more convenient housing when they have multiple hamsters, even if it isn't really a great option.
