I leave it in its bag and in the freezer for a week. I think I read somewhere that a week does it to kill moth eggs. After that if you have more than one bag in the freezer you can just leave it there until it’s needed. So I always have a spare bag in there so it’s ready when the current one is getting low, then buy another bag and stick that in the freezer until needed.

When you take them out it’s defrosted in a couple of hours and I haven’t had any issues with moisture - when the bag is opened the food is nice and dry and no deterioration - it’s all hard stuff.

I then store the bag contents in a lock and lock box so it’s sealed and stays fresh.
