I have built a couple of hamster safe mazes out of recycling. The first one was when I got My syrian Luna, I basically just stuck a load of boxes together with pva glue, I just cut big enough holes out of the different shaped boxes and lined them up, I kept adding onto it every time I got a new shaped box.
Another one i have used was just a box that came with partitions inside already so I just cut holes in some of the partitions and placed treats inside it.
I just went and looked and found a video I did of it - I called it my rubbish maze!!!

It is basically a roller skate box, I laid the top and the bottom of the box out on the floor and connected with tunnels and added a sandbath section and different substrates with different recycled boxes and egg cartons and I placed treats for my syrian Twinkle to find.
I use them when it is free roaming time.
Mine are not anywhere near the epic ones you see online, I just wanted to make a safe one out of recycling.
One word of advice in case you were not aware, a lot of the hamster mazes online use those little plastic balls, they are not safe for your hamster, just replace it with different types of bedding or tissue/toilet roll strips. It will still be fun but just safer for your hamster.
