I went from a 16 cm (6.3 inches) to 23 cm (9.05 inches) for by dwarf hamster and it made all the difference. He can now comfortably sprint without fear. If you haven't already, go for 7 inches + and as much as your cage and wallet can afford. It is the single most vital ingredient to a great hamster cage.
