Thanks, I will try that. I think the idea about the soap was probably right and I have washed that away with plain water now.

I think I need to stick to back2nature as anything remotely scented or allergenic never works for me. It's good to know that your male hamster doesn't smell. That's very encouraging.

I will ask the vet tomorrow I think. I thought it couldn't be an infection as Roc already had antibiotics for a foot injury and the smell persisted after that, but I suppose it could be something else. Thinking about it more, I did have a male hamster when I was a teenager and he didn't smell like this either so it might be something wrong.
