I don't know about the noises but wonder if your hamster wants your attention.

Maybe you could try and finger feed him a treat or take him out of his tank if he wants to come out.
Not all hamsters need taming, some are born sociable and comfortable with humans.

If you think he's trying to cool down you could put a ceramic saucer or mug in the fridge for a while and then put it in his tank. If he's hot then he'll use it.
