Personally, i would only take a hamster to a vet if there are signs of a medical problem.

You could contact the lady you adopted him from to see if he's always been a vocal hamster.

I recently had four dwarfs in my car and there was a lot of squeaking and hissing going on. The dwarf who lodged at our house screeched at me a few times. I was also surprised at how vocal hamsters can be because mine rarely make a sound. One of my dwarfs was muttering a bit on her first day but soon stopped.

I'm inclined to say not to worry and enjoy your hamster communicating with you.
