Sadly Souffe was right with my hamster, it was heart failure and poor circulation. He held on for longer than we expected but eventually his heart gave way on his wheel and I found him the next morning. I never took him to a vet and unfortunately in this situation there is nothing they can do. You could remove his wheel or prevent him from doing things that are strenuous on his heart but then you’d be taking away the things that make him happy and enjoy life. 2 and a half is a good age for a hamster and once they get to that age, things can go wrong quickly. Sorry I don’t have a solution to make things better, this is the tough part of being a hamster owner.
