I would really recommend a 12 inch Silent Runner, not Spinner - Silent Spinners tend to be very low quality and often don't stay silent if they even work in the first place as well as having a safety flaw due to the design of the wheel(two piece construction - also applies to knockoff Silent Spinner wheels). I would definitely go with a 12 inch wheel though as many hamsters outgrow the 10 inch ones and they really don't have enough space for most Syrians so it would be a better investment in case you end up wanting another hamster in the future after this one!

A proper upright wheel is very important. Flying saucer type wheels are not in any way a substitute for an upright wheel. They do not allow a natural running position and would have significantly less running surface than an upright wheel, along with taking up way more valuable floor space in the cage.
