Default Re: Possibly too large of a cage?

It can take up to two weeks for them to fully settle in a new cage so best not to change anything or disturb things too much during that period. He probably is a bit stressed by the change as well as exploring. One tip I'd suggest is taking the old cage out of that room (if you haven't already). They can smell/sense it and want to go back!

Stick it out. I moved a hamster "cold turkey" once and it was quite worrying seeing his behaviour and nearly moved him back to the old one, but stuck it out and by day 10 he was happy as larry.

He'll need to scent mark to feel at home. If everything is new he'll feel a bit lost. Agree if you can put a bit of the old bedding in it might help (and his old nest).

Also don't clean anything for two weeks and then just spot clean for a while.
