[Hayjl]

I live in Southern California and I've been on the lookout for a short haired hamster that looks like the pic attaches, in gold/tan color:

These seem fairly common, right? However, I've been to almost very and pet store in the city (yes, I've visited most of them!), and none of them look like this!

The ones in the store look different. First of all, none of the stores have a golden colored one. Second, they all look similar to each other but different from the one in the pic above. They seem like they all have a longer snout and nose.


My question is... Do they all look similar because they're all bred from a few hamsters? Are there "seasons" when certain "looks" are more common due to breeding habits? If i wait and go back to the store in a month, would the hamsters there look different? I tried both commercial and mom and pop shops and they all look differet...

Also, if anyone lives in Socal, do you know where I can find one of these hammies in the first pic?
