Personally, i'd spray wooden items with pet safe cleaning spray then rinse well or a good old scrub with soap and hot water then rinse and dry. Some people bake wood to get rid of possible germs.
Unless a hamster has died of a contagious disease or had parasites like mites etc, i don't see the need to bin wooden items.
Some of my hamsters share a playpen (not at the same time) and use the same wooden toys.
