The Barney should be fine. You can always use part of a cardboard box to stop bedding going through the bars and allow you to have an area that's deeper than the rest
I have a Syrian in an Alaska, one in the P@H XL cage, another in a bin cage and a roborovski in a zoozone 2 (large).
