I would definitely let her walk through mashed berries or veg straight onto paper because she's going to lick and clean her paws for ages afterwards.
To use any kind of paint, even non toxic one or anything that wouldn't appeal taste wise wouldn't be fair on the hamster.
It's not only a safety matter. It would be like someone making me lick a herring and i absolutely detest the taste and smell of fish. Yuk!
