If it’s smaller it may discourage him from jumping in but I’ve had success with dishes as large as 10cm in diameter.
I don’t think there’s something similar in the EU but I found my current sauce dish from Christmas Tree Shop. It’s basically just a tiny dish; I’ve never seen it anywhere else. Perhaps some more thrifty stores may have something?
If you can’t find something like that, I’d just make sure the room definitely doesn’t have any chance of a chill so in case he hops in nothing much will come of it
