I love that you realised a classroom wasn't the right place for her and you took her home.
When you say she is always out and about in the afternoon, is it for long? She may just be gathering food and bedding and having a drink. Hamsters can do that.
Also, it may just take her a while to readjust after living in a noisy classroom. I wouldn't worry too much about it, just give it time and see what happens.
