Default Hershey & I

Hello all, well it's been around seven long years since I owned a hamster and in turn seven long years since I have been present on this forum. I've missed being a hamster mum so much and after much contemplation and consideration, and as of Friday 11th October, I once again became a hamster mum to this beautiful little cream puff Hershey.

Look at that ickle face and those little paws. He looks as if he's contemplating a lot of things <3

When we arrived at the store, there was only two Syrians available and unable to see them, I was going to wait a little while and then come back, but when this little guy yawned, stretched out his little feet and wriggled around whilst a sleep, I knew I couldn't leave him behind. It was his little paws that did it for me and within moments I knew he was the hammie for me.

However the experience with this certain pet store didn't leave me with a positive outlook. When the assistant went to pick him up, Hershey became scared, bit him and jumped out of his hands. The height from his hands to the floor wasn't big and Hershey didn't hurt himself (we thoroughly checked him and since then has been eating, drinking and moving around perfectly fine), but its been more than enough to push him back in his confidence. He very rarely comes out to say hello and if he does, he's very cautious. I'm taking things real slow with him and to be fair, he's been feeling good in himself to take treats out of my hand and even allowed me to hold and stroke him yesterday which made my day. He has the softest fur and as I held him, he sniffed my nose

I wish I had some more photos to share with you, but as he is a little shy, I didn't fancy sticking a camera in his face. When I can get a full body photo of him I'll share it with you. As for his colour, I believe him to be a pale cream possible roan - he has a darker patch of cream fur upon his head and a slight red tinge to his eyes that you cannot see in the photo.

I truly and utterly am in love with my little Hershey. He's already trodden his little paw prints all over my heart and I cannot wait to see what shenanigans we get up too in the future
