I completely understand not wanting to waste things we buy for many reasons, but perhaps you can find an alternate use for the leftover pool filter sand that doesn't include giving it to hamsters!

My 7 yr daughter has to build a diorama for her school project. Her topic of choice? Syrian Hamsters! I was planning on using the play sand for that but now I guess I'll just use the pool filter sand. I won't mind chucking it afterward since it's a sunk cost. I can always take some cuttings from our bushes and propagate them as well. Have been thinking of doing that anyway. Either way, I'll find uses! I'll head to Lowes this week for the play sand
