It's far too bare and he must be feeling very exposed so tries to get out. No where to hide!
Just follow Luna's advice and you'll have a happy hamster.
The long Trixie bendy bridges are great for tanks and bins too because they don't need to be attached and a coconut hut is one of me hamster's favourite hide.
Here's my Robo's tank with two bendy bridges to run over and under.
Hamilton is bald so wouldn't soft paperbased substrate like Kaytee c&c be more suitable than wood chips? Just a thought.
