Many people start hamsters off in a smaller cage for taming and then upgrade them to a larger one.
I do hope another hamster will come along that needs you - and you can do start out with a good cage and lovely set up so they don't need upgrading later (any cage change can be stressful for them). Come on here when getting a cage sorted next time and we can give tips for the set up!
