One of my hamster books suggests microwaving compost before use so i guess the same could be done with sand? I haven't tried it because i use the Tiny Friends sand from the pet shop. Maybe a hair dryer would dry out the sand? I don't know but i wouldn't have thought that play sand goes mouldy because it gets wet in a kiddies sand pit.

I think using a hair dryer would blow the sand everywhere but you're probably right about the moldy thing, I dont know why I didn't think of that 😂 I'll try microwaving it
