Default Re: Is It better to get a Male or Female Hamster?

Plenty of people keep mixed gendered hams. I suppose it's like any species and how they react is going to be individual. I just got a male and my female Syrian has started squeaking at him when she's in heat but he kinda just looks a bit confused and keeps trundling about doing his own thing. He's a bit older tho so maybe his lady chasing days are just behind him lol and she was rowdy as heck in heat before he got here so not much change there. She knew he was in the house when he was in the other room tho so if they're next to eachother or not they'll still smell eachother.

I don't think another male would bother him, they'd naturally encounter each others territory in the wild so he won't necessarily know the other male he smells is right next door.

Either way I don't think it would do any harm.
