I don't know about Aubiose as haven't used it. Most hemp has woody bits but I wouldn't call them sharp or spikey.

What used to be suggested after people found it helped, was mixing two or even three different substrates, to help tunnels hold their shape. eg Hemp and Fitch or Hemp and Kaytee clean and cosy. I think the hemp definitely needs something else mixed with it for holding tunnels as it is an overall soft light thing so they could collapse easily. Fitch on its own seems to hold tunnels quite well - but people used to mix that with something (eg hemp) to help with that.

All I know about Aubiose is that it was very popular a few years ago but people seemed to start going off it due to quality going downhill - it may have improved again though.
