Thank you, I'll take a look.

I'm definitely planning on lots of substrate in the tank. It's a Falco tank (.https://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/small...r_cages/189556) which I found on eBay (£35!), picking it up today. The current owner had gerbils and has removed the wooden shelves and replaced with a solid plastic floor which goes about three quarters of the way across where the top of the glass tank part is. Would I be best leaving this as it is so he has more floor space and less of an area to fall? And would I need to put that hemp matting or something on the plastic shelf or would it be OK just with more substrate?

Any tips welcome as I want him to be a happy hamster.
