Default Re: All About My Treacle

Thank you Serendipty7000, cypher, Sasha04 and CMB. Today I have some spare time in my busy schedule to update you all on Treacle (plus Liquorice on her own thread). Where do you get your dried shrimp from? I tried getting some for Treacle from p@h in their wild bird bug mix but they only had the very large bags available – with the smaller bags out of stock.

Treacle’s Cage Makeover – September 2018

This Monday I have Treacle’s cage a makeover as it was looking a little messy plus wanted to move her wheel so I could see her running at night when I have my red light on from my bed. Plus I had some new things I wanted to add into her cage including a cork tunnel (initially bought from Zooplus to give to Liquorice however it was the perfect dwarf size so Treacle got it instead), a stuffed Parsley Woodroll and a hamster wooden cottage which I had in storage.

Treacle typically would come out to investigate is she heard me doing anything in her cage however she remained fast asleep – so I started removing her toys although left houses and toys I knew she sometimes sleeps beneath. Well I lifted up her wooden wheel and discovered her fast asleep beneath it – I felt so bad for uncovering her by lifting the wheel up but Treacle remained fast asleep so I just couldn’t resist a quick photo. I did then have to gently wake her up as I didn’t want to place the wheel back on top of her in case I gave her a fright – unlike my Syrians she wasn’t grumpy and was quite happy to see me although I think she was hoping for lots of treats to find their way to her.
This is the photo of Treacle fast asleep…

Treacle spent the entirety of her cage clean in her carrier, she did get a little impatient when I was nearing finishing her cage clean (luckily it doesn’t take as long to clean as my DIY cage) that I decided to place her back in when I was adding the finishing touches. Here is how Treacle’s cage now looks…

Then my next challenge started – getting some photo of Treacle exploring – despite being a senior lady she is very quick on her feet and races around the cage, therefore she was missing from most of my photos I took. But with some tasty treats and a piece of freeze-dried chicken she remained still for long enough to get some adorable photos…

I have also officially had Treacle for 4 weeks and a day now – I have thoroughly enjoyed every day so far as she has such a huge personality and is a real sweetie. Feels I had her for much longer and I’m love that we formed such a special bond and she helped me through such a difficult time of losing Maple. Both Treacle and Liquorice mean the world to me and I’m so lucky to have two very special hamsters in my life at the moment.
