I have glass jars. The sides are slightly angled, so when they are laid down they are stable. I have deep substrate so my hamsters can walk in easily. A bendy bridge is used as a ramp when the jar is in the playpen. My hamsters are dwarf hamsters, they roll and make a mess with open sand baths.
