I used to use a plastic sputnik house for a sand bath because my hamster liked how it was enclosed with a roof and a bit more private for him. I've also used one of those pine wooden hamster houses with a flat roof and no floor; I just turned it upside down and filled it with sand. He loved that but even with the sides several inches high he still managed to kick sand everywhere! I got up one morning to find little mounds of the stuff surrounding his whole container.
I've seen YouTube videos where people have used glass mason jars tipped on their side with the lid and clasps removed, seems like a good idea as it's fairly enclosed and you could bury it under the substrate to make it like a little cave for her
