It's a good idea getting everything ready before he comes
Then you can give him time to settle in without disturbance. I use that sand too. When it comes to the litter tray you may need to move it when he chooses his pee place (often a corner of the cage). They use it if you put it there but won't if it's in the wrong place
With any luck he'll use it where you've put it!
