Default Re: Your thoughts on silent spinners?

It sounds like you have a silent spinner that actually spins! These days they are known for being too stiff to run on. If she's happier with the flying saucer then that should be fine for a dwarf hamster. For a Syrian an upright wheel is best as the main wheel. The 6.5" silent spinner is very small as well - and maybe not quite big enough for an adult dwarf hamster so she would enjoy something easier to run in more. If you have space you could have an upright wheel and the flying saucer as she would probably enjoy both. The 9" silent runner is very good - but not cheap. It is silent though. The 8" wodent wheel would be a good option as well - it has small holes on the front so she can't jump out Meanwhile flying saucer sounds fine if it's big enough (not the really small one - 6.5 to 7" needed).

Pet planet sell the junior 8" wodent wheel. The photo shows the 11" one which larger wheels but if you look at the smaller photos underneath the 8" one is the photo on the far right. Not classed as a "silent" wheel but mine was virtually silent.

This is the 9" silent runner - it spins very easily but she wouldn't be able to go too fast. Dwarf hammies seem to really enjoy it.

The silent spinner you have isn't cheap so if you've only just bought it you could maybe try asking for a refund and put the money towards the 8" or 9" wheel.
