I’ve used Sputniks in bin cages before but a lot will depend on the mesh you use and whether your hamster will be able to climb up and down with ease. In a barred cage a hamster would be able to use the bars but in a bin you might need to think about the positioning in relation to your mesh on the sides of the cages and other toys.

In terms of the Sputnik itself, I found my Chinese tended to prefer their fabric hammocks for relaxing I but at one point I was using it instead of a hammock when one of my previous girls went through a chewy phase. I’ve also used it as an elevated sand bath for one of my Chinese before and she quite liked using it for that purpose.
