Electronic rodent deterrents

My housemate saw a mouse in our kitchen his morning. We are thinking of buying one of those plug in electronic deterrents that are suppose to ward them off with a high frequency noise.
My hamster lives in my bedroom upstairs quite far from the kitchen but I’m worried if we get one of the plug in things it will bother him. Does anyone know how far the noise of those deterrents reach?
