Two of my syrians have slept on me. One preferred resting on one of my hands with the other over the top of him and did so from a young age, and the second needed a blanket and a chew beside him for when he woke. The second was a elderly when he started this and would often sleep on me for 2-3 hours.

But out of the twelve I've owned, they are the only two that have ever done that. They were my first and second hamsters. From what I can tell, it really does come down to personality. I imagine my current boy, Wallace, would shred a blanket or my fingers if I tried to keep him still.
