It's not an ideal set up. I know someone who gave up with theirs due to the smell. It's impossible to seal the shelf gaps and wee leaks in to the chipboard and causes it to swell and it is difficult to clean too.
The detoft glass one is popular but not without it's drawbacks. For the cost of making these you can get a ready made hamster cage of a decent size and accessorise it too.
