You have absolutely done the right thing- for both you and the hamsters. You won't have to worry about them killing each other, and Finn will most likely be a lot happier that he doesn't have to put up with his brother.

Hamsters really don't get lonely, believe it or not! Your boys may seem a little off behavior wise for a week or so but that is only because it's their first time being without a cagemate. Hamsters do just fine living on their own, in fact they are most usually happier when they don't live in the same cage with another ham.
