Default re: question about cage size

The Detolf is still narrow for a Syrian, despite being a great length. You could have a double Detolf though, which would be much better, but the height isn't great and would need a raised lid rather than a standard flat lid anyways(as without this, appropriate substrate depth would be difficult while keeping the cage escape proof).

However there are other square meter or larger cage ideas using Ikea furniture, including those which could be easier to make work for your room as the Detolf's shape may not be ideal in your case. For example, four Lack(side tables I believe, each table is around 22 x 22 or 20 x 20,but four of these with a lid made and DIY sides/front panel/etc attached makes a roughly square meter cage)side tables,or alternatively just not using any premade furniture and doing the usually less expensive option of getting melamine cut to size and making a simple DIY square meter or larger cage.

It may sound difficult, but it really doesn't have to be anything too hard to make a square meter cage, especially in the case of the double Detolf which only needs to be sealed together and have a lid made.
