That sums it up quite well 
Keeping pairs isn't something I would choose to do, I'm too much of a worrier lol! & there is a bit of a bias against it sometimes mainly because we mostly hear from new owners who have been told by pet shops they should be kept in pairs but not given the correct information on how to keep them so they generally do fall out, there are members here who keep pairs or groups but I think you're making the right choice to just get one as you are unfamiliar with the species.
