Sisal is fine if it is untreated with no additives
I think a lot of sisal tends to have odor at first,but if it doesn't go away with airing out then I'd not use it.Hemp and jute are also good options,again if untreated(no dyes either for any material,but you can make dye from hamster safe produce).
