Default Re: Hamster Treats

That would not be a very good idea.Milk Bones are poor quality in general, with ingredients that should be avoided(unspecified biproducts including digest, derivatives, meat and bone meal, etc should never be in treats for any animal including dogs and hamsters as well as containing BHA/BHT/ethoxyquin which are all known to cause cancer and must not be given however in the UK the manufacturer abuses a loophole term to hide the "antioxidants").

I know in the UK Lily's Kitchen at least make one hamster safe biscuit which would be suitable for any non-diabetes prone hamster, but in the US we have tons more options.

Definitely avoid artificial ingredients(sugars, dyes, etc),processed sugars(especially with diabetes prone hamsters, but no animal ever needs dextrose!),and the mentioned unspecified biproducts(also including unspecified liver as this is not safe either)along with the BHA/BHT/ethoxyquin mentioned. If they're to be shared with dogs, they must not have corn or wheat(not necessarily grain free,as a lot of dogs tolerate oatmeal and rice for example just fine while corn and wheat aren't really tolerated nor are they natural for dogs to eat plus they have zero nutritional value to dogs or cats).
