Default Re: Hamster Weight

A hamster's weight depends on the hammy's genetic make-up as well as feeding and health. I have some small winter white/hybrid Campbells and some large pure Campbells and Winter Whites which have been selected for size and well nourished through early puphood. If your Angel (I love the name ) came from a pet shop then she is most likely to be a hybrid. Even with Chinese hamsters who can't hybridise I've had hamsters across the range of 25g to 55g (with the 25g hammy not feeling underweight and the 55g one being fat)! I don't often weigh my hamsters but go by whether they feel OK, too chubby or too slender.
