Hi Kath, welcome to HC. While she could be reacting to dust in the cage, Respiratory problems can be serious hamsters so I would suggest taking Bambi to the vet as soon as you can.
But also I would strongly advise separating your hamsters straight away. Aside from the fact that Syrian hamsters are solitary in the wild & do not get along with other hamsters, they are also prolific breeders so housing a male and female together could lead to you being over-run with babies. Which isn't good for you or tour hamsters. I would suggest putting your female on pregnancy watch. There are some threads about this in the breeding section is the forum and I'm sure one of the breeders will give you could advice too. Good luck!
