Default Re: Is 28g underweight for a pedigree winter white

28g does sound a little light for a breeder ham. My Larry-Jasper is a pedigree Winter White as well, and weighs in between 45-50g, depending on how many seeds he has stuffed in his pouches. I always thought he was generally small compared to other hamsters I've seen at shows. I guess he is an average weight, maybe on the smaller side.

A few healthy extras (in moderation) won't hurt, but certainly don't go overboard and feed so many he stops eating his normal food. I would be more inclined to say that if he seems healthy and eats well, his weight shouldn't be overly concerning. Cypher has a few good suggestions for extras. If you are particularly concerned about teeth, nuts and seeds in the shell are the best way to go. Sunflower seeds are always a HUGE hit with Larry-Jasper.
