I agree it sounds as though taming is going really well for just a few days, don't try to rush anything, carry on with what you're doing & he will slowly gain in confidence.
My hams wouldn't be without a sand bath either! Not sure how easy it is to get hold of where you are but you need some chinchilla sand, not dust, & a container big & deep enough for him to dig & roll in, they absolutely love their sand baths & it is quite important for keeping their coats in good condition too as well as helping a little with trimming nails.
