I'm really sorry to hear that Jaska hasn't made more progress or regained the confidence he had before, I don't think it was a bad idea to try handling him out of the cage again it seems like the obvious & right thing to do but sometimes our best intentions just don't work out.
I don't really think I have anything helpful to suggest, a cage with a door on the front might be better for him, there's no way of knowing really but for such a nervous ham having your hands just by the door may be a lot less threatening than hands having to come down from above.
I really like those cages you have but that is the one thing that puts me off (not that I actually need more cages!).
I often wish they could talk too.
He's such a lovely little guy, sweet photo of him there.
Good to hear he's at least gained some weight now.
