Default Re: Best place to shop for Syrian hamsters?

I tended to buy from a few different places as not everything is available in one place sometimes. Zooplus has a few things but not much. Amazon has a few, but not that much. Viovet has a few.

My favourite Syrian toys were:

Rat Sputnik (available from Zooplus, Amazon and Rat rations - rat rations let you choose your top and bottom colour).

Small hyacinth tunnel - the small size is plenty big enough for Syrians (available from Amazon and possibly viovet - I find Amazon's quality a bit better - maybe they haven't been stored as long or something).

Small bendy bridge and medium bendy bridge - various makes - available from Zooplus and Amazon.

Savic rat tube 10cm (available from Zooplus and Amazon)

Happy Pet Coconut Hut (available Amazon and ebay) - it's a nice round coconut hide and hole is big enough for a Syrian.

Rosewood carrot cottage (seemed to be more popular for out of cage time than in the cage). Amazon and Viovet. The door is a bit small for syrians but they can chew it bigger Or you can cut it bigger - it's cardboard - hay stuck onto it with vegetable starch.

Kabob kebab from Viovet - You can put treats between the blocks which slide up and down. This is fine hung over a shelf, but the ring holding the bell on is quite small and a Syrian could get their foot caught and end up dangling by a leg if it's higher up - so I swapped the ring for a keyring ring (ie bigger).

Rodipet also make good houses and other things for Syrians. They're not cheap (between £15 and £20 usually but there's about £8 postage on top). They also sell other good natural things like Cork tunnels and Cork logs that are the right size for hamsters (the reptile ones are massive). And vine branches in lengths suitable for hamster cages. If you buy a few things the postage is still only £8 regardless of how big or small the parcel.

I also like Ranchhouse cages on ebay. The sell shelves mostly but they also do this coloured bendy bridge that can be used as a standard bendy bridge, or it can be screwed to the bars at one side to make a straight or curvy ramp.

BRIDGE HOUSE SHELF RAMP CHIPMUNK,HAMSTER,RAT,DEGU CAGE

If you're wanting more natural things then bendy bridges and I would get a cork log and vine branch - our hammy loved both of those. I would suggest freezing any natural items like that, and the hay house, for a week, before use to make sure there are no microscopic things living in them that could hatch!

I really like the cork tunnels that are open underneath. They can make a good ramp up to a shelf plus a natural texture to climb over and a nice dark tunnel as well. They are also light and not the same risks of bendy bridges (nails and gaps and occasional sharp bits! Check them carefully).

Wheels:

28cm Trixie Wheel £9 ish - Amazon. £8 ish Zooplus plus postage
30cm Silent Runner £25ish - but silent and sturdy! From the sugarglider shop uk or baruum bazaar on ebay
29cm Karlie wood wheel from Zooplus (needs checking for splinters, maybe light sanding and plastikoting to waterproof).
