I definitely agree with amityville on guinea pigs needing a friend. Guinea pigs are VERY social critters and can quickly develop depression, anxiety, and other mental disorders when housed alone. I'm not sure the exact minimum cage size, but I believe roughly 8 square feet will hold a pair of guinea pigs (guinea pig owners, please correct me if I'm wrong). They need unlimited hay daily, and for juvenile pigs, should have an alfalfa based pellet/hay, while adults should have a Timothy based pellet/hay. I'd recommend oxbow or mazuri guinea pig food as it's high in fiber and necessary nutrients to keep your guinea pig healthy. Enjoy your New Guinea pig and try to get him a little buddy!
