Photo Guide to Making a Bin Cage this is the thread I read through before making a bin cage (which is used a play bin or travel cage). I didn't use many tools apart from a jigsaw to cut the lid and windows, which wasn't the easiest thing to do (but I've also seen people heating up craft knifes to cut through the plastic) and a drill to drill holes to attach mesh.
Bin cages do provide plenty of space for a hamster and fully customisable to your exact requirements.
