I am preparing for a new Winter White (most likely from PetSmart). I have a 110 quart bin & a 66 quart bin. I will be using the smaller one in the beginning & move to the bigger one. My questions are:
1. Can I cut out/mesh only the lid on the 66 quart? I plan to use it for a travel cage in the future. The larger bin will be meshed on the sides.
2. I have read the water bottle should be at shoulder height to the hamster? Is this correct? Does this mean from the bin floor or from the top of the bedding? I currently have a water bottle made to hang from the top of an aquarium, the lid still securely latches with it in place.

I planned to have our hamster by now but have been waiting for what seems like forever for my online order with a 5.5 inch comfort wheel. (I plan to get a Silent Runner in the future). When the box finally showed up yesterday, it was all dog items (boxes were switched). So still waiting & preparing...
