Bar chewing and other behaviour are not always linked to boredom or needing a bigger cage.

It could be a desire to come out of the cage and explore, illness or the setup of the cage, water bottle not working or wheel not big enough/not spinning freely. So it is possible by checking these things and adjusting the setup to reduce/stop unwanted behaviour.

Your new cage is a good size and is likely to be enjoyed by your hamster.
